The Kidde i9010 is a 10-year worry-free smoke alarm. It features a sealed-in lithium battery with a lifespan of 10 years. This means that battery replacement is unnecessary; simply replace the whole unit at the end of its 10 year lifespan. When this battery is at the end of its life, it will chirp every 40-45 seconds to indicate that a new alarm needs to be installed.
Because this Kidde smoke alarm runs off of a tamper-proof battery, it features a very simple installation. Simply attach the mounting bracket where desired and then connect the alarm, which will then automatically activate the battery. Once installed, battery replacement and maintenance is not necessary, cutting down on battery costs and hassle. This makes this alarm a great fit for hallways and high ceilings, where maintenance is simply inconvenient.
This Kidde alarm uses ionization technology for sensing flames. Ionization sensing alarms detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) faster than photoelectric alarms, which have an advantage over ionization alarms when detecting smoldering fires. It's recommended that both alarms are used throughout the home.
This model features alarm memory and smart hush technology. Alarm memory triggers a flashing LED light that tells the homeowner if the alarm has sounded since the last time the reset button was used, providing more information about potential nuisance alarms. Similarly, the Hush button temporarily silences nuisance alarms and then desensitizes the alarm for up to eight minutes. This is convenient if used around known alarm conditions, such as smoke from cooking.
